![]() An alternative to walking around the castle is to take your photos from the roadside and maintain your romantic impressions of this castle, you will however miss out on some of the best views of Cahersiveen if you do this. You may however be a little disappointed when you see the poor state of repair the castle is in when you stroll around the ruins, care and attention are advised. You will not find any gates or signs or paths into the castle and as the state has forgotten about it, entrance is free. Though listed on the County’s historical buildings list this is as far as the powers that be have gone to preserve this fine building. It is probably the largest and most impressive castle built on the peninsula of Iveragh and is still very impressive from a distance. This impressive looking castle with it's ivy covered tower house was once home to the McCarthy Clan and built sometime in the 15th century. Situated near the waters edge you will see the remains of Ballycarbery Castle. Also well worth visiting in this area are the stone forts of Leacanabualie & Cahegral. If you prefer the more traditional approach, find the old barracks in Cahirciveen, located down by the waters edge, with the barracks on your right hand side continue over the bridge immediately ahead, at the next crossroads take a left and follow the signposts for the castle, it is approximately two miles on the left. By the time this was over I made my way up to the Castle. One thing I did notice that I really didn't like was that people here can openly drink any time of the day or night and many of the participants in the parade were drinking hard liquor and it was certainly taking its effects before any of the days festivities had gotten underway. It was very well organised and the police were really good about everything. People came from all over Europe to join in the parade and most of the European tourist were quite fine with the whole thing. They did not seem to be any protests eye problems with pride parade period many of the older Czechs just ignored the whole thing. There were a few outrageous outfits but for the most part it was pretty tame. ![]() American companies like Microsoft, IBM and Johnnie Walker were all represented as was the American Embassy. I was back in time to see the parade period it made a complete circle around wenceslas Square period I couldn't believe the number of people that were marching. It didn't start until 12:30 so I have done my metro and went over and bought concert tickets for tonight. However I have forgotten today was Pride and there was a parade taking place right outside my door. When I got up this morning I had intended to go to Prague Castle and spend the day up there. Another thing is they are not a warm people period they are very somber but they love their beer. They are all equipped with flat screen televisions showing a number of satellite channels, tea and coffee making facilities and the beds are excellent and very comfortable. ![]() Its only since June they can't smoke in restaurants and pubs. The Watermarque is a boutique hotel and the rooms are decorated in greys white and blues carpets with occasional flushes of colour in furniture and curtains. They are everywhere and they are eating them all the time. When thing I've noticed is the Czech people love donuts. I'd like to buy marionettes for Callan and Addie but I'm not sure whether they are just too young to have them and I don't want them to get hurt with them. Its not only tourists the there many locals out on a Sunday afternoon. Every shop is open and all the restaurants that have sidewalk space a full. There was a festive atmosphere on the other side of the bridge. You could actually go through a week salary given to each one you see each day. Possibly the dog evokes sympathy that they may not get without the dog. Most of them have a dog with them which I find interesting. I assume they do it out of embarrassment so they face cannot be seen. I find it very odd how they prostrate themselves on the bridge so that they can see the faces of the people walking by. The hotel is conveniently located in Cahersiveen, near cultural attractions and landmarks. As I walk across the bridge there are several people begging. The hotel has recently undergone renovations, and the interior has been renovated, making it a nice place to stay in Watermarque Boutique Hotel Cahersiveen.
